My favorite of all the animals in attendance though is actually in the feline section, I've come to really love Sphnyx cats. Years ago I got hooked on them when I took care of one at a vet's office I worked at. I had previously thought they were ugly, as so many people do, but when saw how affectionate, soft and warm they are, I fell in love. I adore visiting them every year and I have gotten good information on their special care needs so that some day when I get one, which will definitely happen, I will fully know what it entails. I am hoping it will be many years before my husband and I add a Sphnyx kitty to our family since it wont be until our current kitties are no longer with us, but thanks to Meet the Breeds I have a list or reputable breeders, rescue groups, and resources to turn to when I do get one. |
Norwegian Terrier!!! Soooo cute.
ReplyDeleteI wanna go too!
Cool you got to go! Love the pictures. No Chessies though. Our parent club could not get it together....blah!
ReplyDeleteIt would be good if people would research breeds before they buy a cute little puppy.

You find the most interesting events to attend. Thanks for sharing about Meet the Breeds. I don't think my husband would go with me, he'd be too afraid I'd bring something home.
ReplyDeleteThey are all cute and it looks like an interesting event. Have a marvellous Monday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
What a fun show...I would be there every year too!
ReplyDeleteHey we enjoyed this post alot, and agree with you about doing research BEFORE you bring someone new home.

I saw the Pekingese and thought, "Who on earth would breed a long haired Pug? That's to wrong!" Sorry.
ReplyDeleteThe terrier is adorable. Its face looks so sweet and personable. We're currently talking about small dogs, one for my Hunny, and the Shih Tzu is in the running. He loves my mom's.

This is such a great event to learn about breeds and of course meet them :-) Pekingnese looks very cute. And oh, the Sphynx kitties are adorable! I've learned that they are social and friendly...despite their look, haha :-) They are very cute!
ReplyDeleteWhat a good way to learn about breeds. If folk believed everything that was written on the internet about wire haired fox terriers, then no-one would ever dare take one on!
ReplyDeleteCheers, Gail.
What a wonderful way to learn about the different breeds. You are so right about people not taking the time to learn what would be right for them. I love a lot of the bigger breeds ( I had labradors many years ago) but a big dog would not be for us.

Sounds fun! Wish I lived in the NY area so I could go.
ReplyDeleteAwesome event - great idea! Of course, partial to the Newf :)
ReplyDeleteI really love Sphynx cats too, they seem to have lots of personality. I went to a cat show a few years ago and just loved the feel of them and the way they talk to you. I will look forward to seeing yours if you get one.

What a wonderful event. I agree with you...much heartbreak has been caused by not properly choosing the correct breed. I've never met a Sphynx cat but would love to. I've heard they feel like velvet.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a brilliant event, fab idea!!
ReplyDeletethat event is my DREAM! we want to visit new york sometime next year, maybe i'll plan it around then. i have a friend that has a peke, two shih tzus, and a chichuahua and all those dogs break my heart because they are not affectionate at ALL and could care less when we come to visit. they don't even really like to be held or petted. their little black peke is one of the cutest things i've ever seen!
ReplyDeleteand we would love to have a sphinx cat someday too. it will be a while (hopefully) because we've decided that five critters is too many for us(it is so expensive giving them all good food and vet care!) and we'll wait til our brood dwindles down a little before bringing in someone new.
