Donuts and Dog Park

After Saturdays Bee disaster  we were hoping for a pleasant and relaxing Saturday, and luckily our wish was granted.    After taking the whole family for a nice early morning walk we decided to continue our Manhattan dog park tour by bring Weasley to the dog park at Madison Square on 23rd Street.  

First, we stopped by Doughnut Plant   at the legendary Chelsea Hotel


.  Hang out of incredibly cool like Bob Dylan, Eddie Sedgwick, Allenginsburg and now....Weasley.

 We ate our donuts at the tables in the middle of 6th Avenue, Weasley seemed to enjoys seeing all the big city commotion.

After donuts we headed to the dog park.  I think this was Weasley's best dog park visit yet.  He played hard for over and hour and particularly enjoyed playing with a schnauzer puppy, unfortunately my camera died before the schnauzer arrived.

I love big dogs.

It was a great day, there is nothing like watching dogs play for reminding one of the joys of life.


On a sadder note our friend Emma at A Wonderful Dog's Life is note feeling her best and her mum is very worried.   Emma is an amazing girl, a 14 year old Great Dane mix and we love her.  Please stop by and offer her some well wishes and her mom some comfort.

Friday Fun-Weasley's First Trip to The Dog Park

Weasley made his first trip to the dog park two weeks ago, but we never got around to sharing the pictures.  He went solo since the older guys are not much for dog parks any more, except Tubby, and Bob has never been a dog park dog.   We thought Tubby might be distracting for Weasley and that solo was the way to go first.  He seemed to have a good time and the best part was that on the way out we met a beautiful Shepherd mix who was 15 years old!  I love running into seniors unfortunately my camera died and I did not get a picture of the older gentleman.

City Critters-First Run

First I want to say how incredibly thankful I am for the outpouring of support we have received after the loss of Dr. Zira.   I am feeling much better after a day of non-stop crying on Thursday and its largely due to your support!   Z had a good retirement and was a good old girl, her vet described her as "spunky."  That is how I will always think of her, my feisty old lady.

Now for something more positive.  Last Saturday, my husband and I took Ping on a bike ride to NYC's first run at Tompkins Square Park.  The Tompkin's Square run was the first dog park established in NYC, it was constructed in the 1980s way before dog runs were de rigueur.  Its huge by NYC standards and always hopping with a fascinating mix of pooches.   Ping enjoyed checking out the small dog section while I was entranced by the gorgeous Dogue de Bordeaux, one of my favorite breeds, on the large side.
