It's far from perfect but I think it at least resembles a bird's nest:
The project is simple and its a good opportunity to practice knitting on double pointed needles. You can find the pattern here. I used sock yarn for the eggs, rather then fingering weight yearn, so they are a bit larger then the eggs in the pattern.
