Monday Mischief-Recall

Weasley here:  I'm still working on this basic training thing.   On Saturday we all took a long walk and them mom and dad had some tasty looking human breakfast that they did not share with me, the meanies.  Then mom and dad took me to the dog park and it was empty so we practiced some re-call.  I like this game I run back and forth and get a treat!

"So, I'm here, wheres my treat."
At training class on Sunday we practiced leave it and I did such an awesome job that mom and dad bought me this new toy.

He is small and cute just like me and I love him.  The most amazing toy ever!

Mom plans to use the toy to teach me leave it! (Fat chance I'm leaving my ducky) but don't tell her.  She is already planning to order back ups on amazon.

Oh and mom wants to post the French Toast recipe so in exchange for the promise of more Kong Mini Squeakers I am going to let her.

Plain and Simple French Toast

1 loaf Challah bread sliced (about 8 slices)
3 eggs, beaten
1 cup heavy cream

Whisk the eggs and the cream together and pour it into a baking pan.  Lie the  bread slices in the mixture and soak for about 90 seconds, turn and soak again.
Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt in 2 tbsp of butter.  Add the challah bread and cook about 2 minutes per side until nicely browned.  Transfer to the oven to keep warm, add another 2 tbsp of butter and cook the remaining french toast.  Serve with Maple Syrup (mom likes Grade B).

  14. You are very obedient - says Mum, looking down at us in disgust. Well, we can't help being naughty all the time, it is in our genes, hahaha.

  15. Hey Weasley
I'll tell you what's the most fun. A young pup like you can get really really good at the recall thing, and lull your Mom into what a believe is referred to as a 'false sense of security'. The longer you can keep up the good impression the better, 'cos they'll start taking you to some really interesting places, maybe a forest with deer and foxes, and you'll be miles from them and they'll be thinking "oh, no problem, he always comes back when I call". And then one day you elect not to hear when they shout and two hours later you are still free! (OK, by that point you might be lost and alone and a note of panic might enter your barking...)

  16. Hi Weasley!
Man, you are nailing those lessons! Make sure they give you those treats (that's my lesson #1).

I have a bunch of those Kong Mini plush animals...I think I have the whole set (duck, beaver, froggie, and bear cub). They are one of my favorite toys (second only to my POTATOES).

I know what "Leave It!" is, but I don't know what "Recall" is - how does that one work? I'm always looking at new ways for me to train my 'rents into giving me treats (and THEY think they're training ME!It's laughable!).

Keep up the good work, little man!

    -Love,
    Sid.

  21. hey Weasley,

"Recall" sounds like a fun game! And I think Bouncing Bertie had some great tips! Electing when and when not to hear our humans is definitely a dog prerogative.

Pawsome duck toy! And I agree with you, don't leave it. ;->

I love your "So I'm here" photo. What an adorable face!

My human is drooling at your mom's french toast recipe. She LOVES french toast but never tried it with heavy cream. I know what she will be making this week-end!

    Suka

P.S. Thank you for sniffing your way over to my blog and pawing such kind words. I really appreciate it. And thank you for the info on congestive heart failure. Good to know that dogs have been successfully treated. It is a scary thing, but the support and good news helps. Thank you. :->
