Most people know that pugs

originated in China.

This happened approximately  3,000 years ago during the Shang Dynasty.  Pugs were bred to be companions to the emperors and where central to court life.  They were carried all over the palaces on silken cushions and had their own servants.  According to the book Pugs in Public by Kendall Farr one infactuated emperor, Lung-Tu, awarded his pug the country's highest level of literacy achievement, the Hosien Grade, complete with official hat and belt! (and the tradition of dressing up pugs began.)  Later pugs where imported to Europe during the 16th and 17th centuries.

Of course  yesterday was the first day of Chinese New Year so its an appropriate time for pugs and their brethren to celebrate their heritage.  First Tubby took a walk in his Fortune Cookie jacket

Then all the hounds sampled a new treat Kung Fu Fido Fortune Cookies from Sojos.  They come in a cute box
and they look just like regular fortune cookies:

They are also super delicious.  Look at how badly we all wanted one:

Best of all there is a cute fortune cookie saying inside each one!  Lie:
"If you are hungry, eat.  If you're tired sleep.  If you're tired of eating, you're not a dog."

Sadly, according to the Sojos  website they are discontinuing the cookies!  At least we  have enough to last us through the 15 days of celebration this year.
