I mentioned before that I really love Purl Soho and I also love the owners book
Its full of beautiful photographs and the projects are organized into categories of under 2 hrs, 2-4 hours, 4-6 hours, 6-8 hours, and over 8 hours. Many of the projects are too challenging for a not very advanced knitter like myself, but there are a few easy ones as well.
I made the Big Lace Scarf in the book for a Holiday gift and it did indeed take only about 3 hours to make. It also used only one skein of Cascade Magnum a relatively inexpensive yarn that comes in a wide range of colors.
I wont give the pattern away, that would be plagerism! But I will say that all you need to know how to do make the scarf is purl, knit, slip stitches, knit two together decreases, yarn over increases, and PSSO or passed slip stitched over which is very easy and is well explained in this video:
Here is the finished project:
What a great scarf. I too can knit but am very limited. I love the fact that this book catorigizes in "hours to make" as sometimes I will just get overwhelmed when I start a project. I am going to see about getting this book. :) Great post!

That scarf would keep a neck nice and cozy warm. I love the color green too. I am more a blue colored person but I am starting to appreciate the shades of green.
