Tasty Tuesday Product Review-Red Velvet Cake Mix from Puppy Cake

It goes without saying that every year mom has to make us something special on Valentine's Day.  Last year it was knitted collars, but this year we got something much better.....cake!   Specifically wheat free Red Velvet Cake from Puppy Cake.  We got the cake mix in our December Bark Box, if you don't have bark box yet then get cracking on your 'rents to sign you up because its the best thing ever!   As soon as mom saw the Red Velvet cake mix she knew it would be the perfect treat for Valentine's Day.

Now mom usually makes our cakes herself (with mixed results) but even she had to admit this cake mix was healthy, and with no noxious ingredients.  Its made with rice flour, beet powder, and comes with powdered yogurt frosting mix.

All you do to make the cake is preheat the oven to 350 and dump the cake mix, 3/4 cup of water, 1 egg and 3 tablespoons of oil in a bowl and stir.   Then you pour it all into a greased pan or muffin tin and bake for 18-20 minutes.  Even the most cooking phobic pet owner can make this cake.  After the cake is cool you mix the yogurt powder and water and frost the cake.

Mom's only complaint with the mix was that she didn't get quite enough frosting for our 9  inch bone shaped pan cake, but we didn't mind!

All five of us loved the cake and barked for more.   Red velvet.
cake retails for $6.99 at Puppy Cake.Com.

(Special Request: If you guys could send some positive healing thoughts to Tubby we would appreciate.  Mom noticed a swelling near his anal sac, yes TMI, and brought him to the vet.  Thankfully the vet does not think its a tumor or anything which was mom's fear but his one anal gland needed to be expressed and the enlarged one may be impacted or infected so he is on antibiotics in a re-check in a wee to see if the swelling goes down.  We have had lots of vet bills lately so mom and dad are a bit overwhelmed and of course we want Tubby to be fine!)

  1. Poor Tubby! Sending healing wishes and paws crossed.

I feel a little dumb. I was saving the red velvet cake for spring so the pups could have their snack outside. I was worried about the color staining the carpet or their beds. Then, I see that you gave it to them in their dog bowls. Sometimes the most obvious solution doesn't come to my mind. Sheesh.

  2. We hope the antibiotics are all that Tubby needs and all will be OK. You have some of the coolest pet products over there. Bet a cake mix like that would go down a storm over here. Have a terrific Tuesday.
    Best wishes Molly

  14. So sorry we are behind in reading this one. I'm glad to hear the Dr. does not think it's anything serious. I will keep you in my prayers. I hate it when lumps and bumps appear....it's scary.

The Dr. told us to add some pumpkin to our diet to help with our anal glands he said the pumpkins also has good stuff in it that's good for our intestines. You wanna get just plain 100% pumpkin no added spices.
