Walk Down Memory Lane-Bay Ridge Brooklyn

When Tubby, Norbert, and Ping where very young we lived in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn

for two years before moving to Manhattan.   My husband grew up in Bay Ridge and his father still lives there, so a few weekends ago we went to visit his Dad and brought Norbert and Tubby along for a trip down memory lane.   Bob came with us too so he could get a chance to see where his big bros grew up.

Bay Ridge is a nice community and quiet and almost suburban for New York, it has lots of beautiful homes and nice places to walk.   Its down sides are that it is super expensive and pretty far from Manhattan.

We stopped by our former apartment building on Shore Road.  We lived there from 2002-2003 in a one bedroom.  The building was very dog friendly and has since become condos.

One really nice thing about living on Shore Road was that we were right by the Narrows Botanical Gardens.   We used to walk the dogs there every day.  So we decided to check it out again

Since it was still early March there wasn't much to see but due to the unusually warm winter we did see some blooming daffodills.

Part of the garden where they grow new plants was blocked off,  Bob seemed to want to investigate.

After we investigated the garden we decided to take a walk on the Narrows Promenade which has nice wide walking lanes and a view of the  Verrazano Bridge.

On our way back to the hounds Grandpa's house we walked by the famous Gingerbread Hous

an arts and crafts  style home built in the early 1900s.    The house is on a one acre lot which is huge for the city and has a bowling alley in the basement!   The owners put it up for sale recently and it is offered at a cool 12 million.  We can dream!

  4. What an awesome house! I will dream too. But what a great area to live! Such a nice garden. I think I would like it there. When we're all rich, we can be neighbors.
