Mom knitted up this super simple blanket for our new brother Weasley,
he comes home on Saturday! This was mom's first time knitting a border and she did make a few little mistakes but we think Weasley will still like the blanket.
To make your own striped crate blanket you need 3 balls of soft cotton worsted weight yarn, (mom used sunny sky colors of yellow, blue, and white but you can use anything you would like) and a size 7 32 inch circular needle. Cast on about 100 stitches, knit in garter stitch until five ridges appear and then switch to the next color. Continue knitting in garter stitch, changing colors every time five ridges appear.
Keep knitting the blanket until its as large as you want or you are out of yarn, bind of and weave in ends. Next pick up stitches
on each side and with third color of the yarn knit a border in 2x2 ribbing (2 knit stitches, 2 purl stitches, binding off in stitch pattern when the border is as big as you would like.
On Sunday, Norbert gave Weasley's blankie a test drive
" I like the stripes, |
Nice and Soft |
Cuddly and Warm, I think the little guy will like it!" |
Oh I just love Weasley's blanket! It looks like it got the seal of approval from Norbert too!
ReplyDeleteVery cool blanket! Bet Saturday will be exciting!
ReplyDeleteThat's a beautiful little blanket! I'm unable to knit (though I can crochet!), so I didn't make Elka a blanket when we got her. It was also July....
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to puppy pictures!
