Tasty Tuesday-Summer Time Saute

Sometimes plain old kibble http://www.balancediet.com/Portals/0/KibbleShot-Featured-400px.jpg

gets a little......well dull.

Ugh, more boring old kibble.  Sheesh!

At times like these you need a kibble topper.  Mom's secrete formula is pretty simple: a meat, a fruit, and a veggie.  Since its summer mom used turkey, yellow summer squash and cherries.  (Note: there is some internet talk that wild cherries are bad for dogs, the pits are definitely bad as they contain trace amounts of cyanide.)  Apparently too many cherries can cause GI upset, but other information says a few cherries are good, if mom was making this again she would use blueberries.  If you do choose to use cherries make sure to pit them first.

Summer Time Saute

1 1lb ground meat (like turkey)

Diced summer squash

1/2 cup of fruit, blueberries are a good choice.  We used cherries but you have to be sure to pit them first.

Saute the meat, veggies, and fruit together and perk up the kibble!

I love blueberries and turkey, sam and trudie just like turkey...dad thought he was being a good dad last night and sneaked us a bit of bacon...it upset someone's stomach really bad at our house and left a mess all over the place. Mom said that was not the way she wanted to start her tuesday!

  8. our mom always has to have a mix-in for our food, because i(yuki)will not eat plain kibble. your mix-ins look really tasty too. i have not heard of cherries being bad, only heard of them being very nutritious, of course discard the pits and stems like you said.

  11. So you use this in addition to the kibble not in place of? I had heard that cooked turkey is bad for dogs, and so my guys never get cooked turkey. Have you heard anything about that?

  16. :-) Some dogs are eating better than the people over here - again!

We don't always get kibble toppers so sometimes we make our own - Lil took a few tomatoes off the counter and snarffed them down and didn't even share! Silly Lab.

  18. Ooooh that looks tasty.

I have no trouble downing a bowl of plain ol' kibble (I'm a food maniac) but adding a little bit of yummy kibble topper sure wouldn't hurt!

    Sid.
